BIRMINGHAM, AL  -  Magic City Soccer Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of our new Assistant Soccer Coach, Barry Spitzer, to our indoor team.  Spitzer brings an abundance of experience and passion for the sport, making him an invaluable addition to our team.

Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, Spitzer has deep roots in the community and a profound love for soccer. His journey in coaching spans over 30 years, where he has successfully coached both men's and women's collegiate soccer teams, played pivotal roles in launching and nurturing various soccer programs such as Samford University (NCAA Div I) and Wallace State (NJCAA), and achieved remarkable results.  He said, “I feel privileged to be the inaugural Assistant Coach at Magic City Soccer Club.  I’m a product of this community, and I am enthusiastic about contributing to its growth and development.”

Spitzer's extensive experience in college coaching has also equipped him with exceptional recruitment skills and a proven track record of identifying and attracting top-tier talent to the programs he leads. This ability to scout and recruit promising players will undoubtedly be an asset as we aim to build and strengthen the Magic City Soccer Club.

In his current role as the Executive Director at Tuscaloosa United Soccer Club, Barry Spitzer understands that building a thriving soccer club extends beyond the field and involves careful planning, program management, and fostering a sense of belonging among players and supporters.  Tuscaloosa United continues to see unprecedented growth under his leadership.

We are excited about Spitzer's deep commitment to growing the game of soccer in Alabama and his strong network within the club and collegiate soccer coaching community. Spitzer holds a B.S. from Florida State University and his M.Ed. in Exercise Science from The University of South Alabama.  With a USSF A License, USSF Grassroots Educator License, United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, and a wide range of other coaching certifications from overseas, Barry Spitzer is well-prepared to help lead our indoor team to success.

Spitzer said, “I would like to express my gratitude to Coach Jennifer Pfeiffer, Andrew Haines, and the other Magic City Soccer Club owners for including me in their endeavors to grow soccer in Alabama.  I am eager to learn from Jennifer’s knowledge and experience, especially in the indoor game.  This is an exciting time, a beginning of a new chapter, and I look forward to contributing to the growth and success of the Magic City Soccer Club indoor team.”
